|Guest speaker: Prof. Jan Freidank, THM Business School, Germany
Increasing complexity and speed of change have created more and more volatile markets in most industries. As a consequence disruptive changes have become a frequent business challenge. In addition global information systems allow for fast spreading of any positive and negative news requiring delicate but rapid communication management. “Surprise” or “Crisis” Management has therefore become an important management skill for top managers and in many cases has driven the destiny of entire businesses.
Using past and current business cases including the recent VW “Diesel-Scandal”, Prof. Jan Freidank will highlight essential challenges posed to top management and discuss possible response strategies to different crisis scenarios. Even though every crisis will pose individual challenges, he argues that certain response strategies may significantly increase chances to manage a crisis successfully.
