BMI Executive Institute’s International Executive MBA Class of 2027 – Vilnius cohort – has completed its International Study Trip, Business and Innovation: The Korean Way, hosted at Korea University Business School in Seoul.
The 4-day module gave participants direct exposure to South Korea’s business and innovation ecosystem. Through academic sessions, company visits, and meetings with faculty and practitioners, the cohort explored how Korean companies approach digital transformation, AI, entrepreneurship, consumer engagement, and corporate innovation.
Led by Prof. Jin Wook Chang, Academic Director of the module, the study trip focused on the distinctive features of Korean business: large conglomerates, active startup culture, fast execution, and global competitiveness.
Participants engaged with Jae Choi, COO at Xpanner; Sangbeom Kim, CEO at SK Encar; Janghyuk Lee, Professor of Marketing at Korea University and CEO at AligoAI; Wonbin Kang, Data Scientist Manager at BubbleTap; Young Mok Park, CEO at Proxy Planet; and Guillaume Parvaix, Senior Manager at Hyundai Motor Group.
Company visits were an important part of the learning experience. At Bunjang, participants examined digital commerce and Korea’s e-commerce ecosystem. At CJ Blossom Park, they explored structured innovation pipelines within a large organisation. At Doosan, the cohort looked at corporate evolution, industrial transformation, and adaptation across industries.
The programme also included a visit to the Lithuanian Embassy in Seoul, where participants learned more about Lithuania-Korea cooperation and Korea’s startup and innovation landscape. A representative of the Global Digital Innovation Network introduced its work in startup acceleration, funding programmes, international collaboration, and joint Proof of Concept projects.
Across the module, participants examined how AI, data, digital platforms, creative industries, and corporate innovation are shaping business development in South Korea. The experience offered a practical view of how speed, scale, corporate discipline, entrepreneurial energy, and technology-driven thinking influence business decisions.
For BMI Executive Institute, international study modules are a key part of the Executive MBA learning experience. They take executive education beyond the classroom and help participants compare markets, test assumptions, and broaden their strategic perspective.
We thank Korea University Business School, our faculty, speakers, company hosts, the Lithuanian Embassy in Seoul, and all partner organisations for contributing to this international learning experience.
